The Red Elderberry (Sambucus racemosa), also known as red-berried elder, is a native deciduous shrub found across much of North America, including parts of northern and central Wisconsin. It’s related to the American elderberry (Sambucus canadensis) but has some key differences in its appearance, habitat, and berry use. Does require another variety of
Elderberry in the area for best pollination. Consider our Black American Elderberry as a pollinator.
